Upper Dalmatia 2016/2017

Last year after our first visit to Krk island, we continued on south, stopping by at Rab, and onto Molat...  There we met up again with Giannina and Geoffrey, of the American sailing yacht Cetacea. Geoffrey has circumnavigated the globe and afterwards had a boat hull and deck designed by Rodger Martin and built in New England which he had then finished into a beautiful offshore performance cruiser....  If I hadn't put so much work into fixing systems and getting used to the sailing performance of Dazzle, this would be my 'dream boat'  (anyhow, we're now stuck in Golfo di Venezia, not really an ocean ;-)... Cetacea is built for long ocean voyages with all the safeguards and easy maintenance...

This year we met again for the third season at Molat and found out that, due to circumstances, they've decided to put Cetacea on the market...  Check out Yacht World online for a full description of the boat and some beautiful photos.

As we were preparing to leave Molat, a local fisherman approached trying to sell his morning's catch, which were eight sepias, sepia ink included ;-)  Both the fisherman and we were happy with the deal, as Dora transformed the sepias into perfect meals, plus saved the ink for later art experiments...

Back to last year... Following our meet with Cetacea, we continued on further south to our favourite little island of Kaprije and our 'berth' there...  Fortunately we found it - empty, yeay!

We backed in immediately and tied to shore, expecting the arrival of Isabell and her crew, Geza, Anna and Rozi.  They tied in front of us so we had the head of the bay to ourselves for a couple of days...  Anna was into snorkeling and diving, so when we discovered one morning her green towel underwater over the side of the boat in about 3m of water I got her to learn how to press air into her ears and keep going - and she retrieved her towel!

Hmm, this is a nice camping spot

Practicing

I had to 'coax' (grab/jump) Rozi into swimming as she's not a water-dog.  She enjoys barking at waves hitting the swim platform. By now, she does occasionally jump on her own after kids...

Had to fix something up here...

She really enjoys tug-a-war

We fell in love...

Isabell

Following our stay at Kaprije, which included walks over the hill to the village for refreshments (beer and ice-cream ;-), we sailed on to Vinisce in preparation for our son Z's arrival...

This year:

all the way to Korcula from Molat, with only brief stops at Pasman (no more buoys at Zincana bay, hurray) and Rogoznica.   At Rogoznica we stocked up on oradas at the market and then Dora did the magic again:

Now the stories of the two summers diverge, and according to D the combined blogs became confusing, so I plan to publish the rest as independent accounts...
