Stari Grad, Dol, Jelsa by Moped

The first day with Dazzle on the Vrboska wall we went to Stari Grad and back by moped visiting Jelsa and the hillside, small village of Dol...

Vrboska still waking from winter slumber, Dazzle alone

vineyards...

Lavender fields...

...Lavender!

The town of Jelsa where I spent quite a few summer camping vacations in my youth is also getting ready for the summer rush...  in a rush, they're late!  But who's gonna work during the winter?  Now's the 'right' time just when the first tourists are already here.

Lunch was had in Stari Grad...  Everything seemed in order there (ah, I almost forgot - the very nice restaurant on the other side of the bay where we had lunch same time two years ago also had its road dug up, so we had to find another place, but this one was nice too, even if the setting was more 'local').   Dora had a chicken dish, me 'cevapcici'...

On the way back from Stari Grad, with "dark clouds gathering, driving the rain" we "danced on the thunder again" and drove our little moped up to the little village of Dol and its beautifully positioned chapel on the hill.

WWI Memorial for the Fallen Soldiers of Dol.
Their names and years of birth inscribed...

That one missed Vrboska by not much...  In the background the east end of the Island of Brac on the left, and Makarska and the Biokovo mountain range on the mainland (view from the yard of Dol chapel)
On the way back to Vrboska after catching a few drops of drain on the road, we used the scenic shoreside road from Jelsa that passes a couple of beautiful coves that are full with bathers staying in the hotels and villas along the road in the summer.

Beautiful, ..., so,....

... there's no need to fix this, tourists are coming anyways!
