Southern Islands Giro with My Cousin

Posted Aug. 17, 2012 at 09:06

My first cousin and his wife spent a good week with us cruising the southern Croatian islands: we circled Hvar, stopping near Camp Mina in Jelsa where we've spent many summers together camping with our parents; stopped at a beautiful cove for some serious shore-cooking; had a long day with a great spinnaker run to the west end of Korcula; then on to Lastovo for more exploration and shore-cooking; and finally, east-end Korcula, with Lumbarda and the beautiful Korcula town finishing the circle.  They had brought lots of good food and home made quince-apple schnapps from the old country so we weren't hungry, not even for a moment...

Going to Camp Mina, Jelsa on Hvar Island

Had to cook all the seafood we bought in Jelsa - oradas, calamari, and good old Vojvodina potatoes - the best pomfrit!

There's no blue like deep blue...

Now we're sailing!

Lastovo

Frying smelt in good italian olive oil...

more pomfrit...

Now were exploring!

Now we have to figure out where to next... although there's only one direction where we haven't gone yet.
