Bahamas End at West End

As the weekend forecast got a bit worse, Wind Whisper and us decided to make a stop at Old Bahama Bay Marina at West End, Grand Bahama Island - the same marina we arrived at after crossing the Gulf Stream in January.  Near the end of our sail from Nassau to here, the winds started picking up, gusting to 30kn for the last 10 miles...   Fortunately, the Marina was half-empty, with a four-day special for $1/foot/day which perfectly fit the plan of resuming our journey back on Tuesday morning...

So here we are, enjoying the resort one more time, with a strong southerly blowing through it though...  Today (Sunday), the sun finally disappeared just after noon (argh, we still had 50Ahrs to go to charge completely, but at least we got half a charge).  Friday and yesterday were windy, but otherwise nice beach/pool days. In the evening we barbecued (using firewood we hauled from the end of the yard to marina barbecues) and enjoyed the company of the crews of More Cowbell and Daisy who are also here for the same reason as us...

We still have food in the fridge and freezer and lots of cans and dry stuff stuffed away... So, the plan for tonight is to go give the small restaurant in the marina a try for dinner ;-)  We had a nice brunch buffet there yesterday morning.

We will start sailing the 130nm from here to Port Canaveral on Tuesday morning across the Gulf Stream with light easterly winds behind us, at least until we get close to our destination overnight and then it's going to pick up again...
