Leaving the Dock - Finally

Posted July 25, 2008 at 22:14

Well, we've taken far too long - about three months to "get ready".  There was a lot of installing and improvements, too many to mention them all, the major ones being the new solar sonnenschein batteries, the second, high-output alternator addition to the engine, the removable inner stay and running backstays,  six 85W removable solar panels on deck, the charge controller for the solar panels...

The boat is packed to the "gills"... Storing and tightening everything down took a number of days and countless little plastic boxes.  A whole household plus our "hobby" activities are also onboard, we'll just have to get to the point where we'll have time to devote to them.  We received lots of goodies from friends, old and new, the chocolate stash is now at a satisfactory level for those desperate moments in need of consolation...

That's it, have to run to actually cast off... Our son Zalan and his friends will spend the afternoon sailing around Toronto harbour, then we plan to anchor off at Lesley's spit on Toronto Island.
